Michael McDonald | Non-Executive Director & Chairman
Michael is a Director and Chairman of several companies, including the ICEE Group (designers of the world’s first collapsible polystyrene box) and the Leighton O’Brien Group (an Australian environmental engineering business with a global licensee network). He is an international commercial and intellectual property lawyer based in Melbourne, Australia. Michael has over 30 years’ experience in corporate and commercial law, intellectual property protection, and intellectual property licensing, and holds a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws. Michael’s intellectual property practice involves the identification, protection and commercialisation of intellectual property, and acts for major businesses both in Australia and internationally.
Gráinne Oates | Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer
Dr Gráinne Oates is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting at Swinburne Business School. As well as teaching in Australia, she has sought international experience and has taught in Vietnam and Singapore. She is motivated to improve the student learning experience and outcomes and achieves this through the on-going development and use of innovative technologies. She is the originator of the idea behind Quitch. In addition, she works with a team to conduct research and provide empirical evidence on the benefits of innovative technologies in education. Grainne publishes on topics relating to learning and teaching with a special focus on teaching innovations to enhance the student experience and learning outcomes.
Prior to her career in academia, Gráinne worked in the Pharmaceutical industry for JRH Biosciences (a CSL company). In her role as Plant Manager, she managed departmental expense budgets of $30M (AUD) across both Melbourne and Brisbane facilities. She led a highly motivated team of up to thirty employees and managed resources to meet variable production programs. She regularly hosted international customer audits for the key biopharmaceutical raw material supply. She met and often exceeded departmental objectives for profitability, service, quality and efficiency. She implemented and maintained health and safety policies across both sites and conducted annual performance reviews and developed action plans with employees.

Dan Hunter | Executive Director & Chief Technology Officer
Professor Dan Hunter is the Foundation Dean of Swinburne Law School, and Distinguished Visiting Professor at New York Law School. He is an international expert in intellectual property and internet law, and is the bestselling author of two books on gamification in business published by Wharton Digital Press. He has taught at the Wharton School, Cambridge University, the University of Melbourne and a number of other universities in Australia, America and England.
He has degrees in computer science and law, a masters in artificial intelligence, and a Cambridge PhD in cognitive science and legal reasoning. When he is not working on Quitch he studies the cultural history of intellectual property in the postwar period, including work on Lego bricks, Barbie dolls, modernist furniture, and luxury handbags.

Sarah Gilkes | Non-Executive Director
Sarah is a Partner at mdp Law in Melbourne, where she specialises in international intellectual property commercialisation and the provision of strategic commercial advisory services. Her particular focus is the technology sector, where she works with clients from the startup software development stage through to the multinational delivery of technology solutions via mobile applications, cloud systems and other online platforms. Sarah holds undergraduate degrees in Law and Arts, together with a Master of Laws in intellectual property. She has held positions as director and company secretary for numerous organisations in both the corporate and not-for-profit sectors.
Reed Leighton | Business Development
Reed Leighton is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Director of Leighton O’Brien, responsible for leading the organisation’s global operations and strategic direction. Reed began his career at Shell where he managed Shell’s Australian retail and distribution network for safety, environmental and security compliance. Reed is a well-known industry leader in software and engineering services for the global oil industry. Reed responsibility at Quitch is establish the strategic business development function to drive top line revenue, for the domestic market and establishing the global distribution model.
